In 1961, the Fluxus movement was proclaimed in New York - a radical art movement for which the creative idea was more important than the work of art (which was frowned upon as bourgeois). This globally heard drumbeat was preceded by the initiative of a young artist in Cologne who, from March 1960, organised happenings, concerts, readings and creative actions of all kinds in her attic flat; the list of contributors reads like a who's who of international art: Beuys, Christo, Nam June Paik and many others. The name of the artist: Mary Bauermeister. The film is an amusing and informative memorial to the 88-year-old pioneer.
