Tactile visual aids in art education for blind and visually impaired exhibition visitors - Workshop for museum educators

28.10.2020

How can art be made comprehensible for blind or visually impaired people? Together with members of the association Andersicht e.V., with Philipp Schramm from berührt geführt, the team of Taktilesdesign GmbH and mediators from Schleswig-Holstein, the Kunsthalle explored the possibilities and limitations of tactile mediation. The most important conclusion was that even the best tactile technology does not work without communication and that the mediators must be in constant exchange with the visitors.

Guided tours for blind and visually impaired visitors

Winter semester 2019/20

In 2019, the Kunsthalle offered guided tours for the visually impaired and blind for the first time. In preparation, we met with the association Andersicht e.V. and received advice on how to provide our guests with access to art through all the senses: What can a tactile hand grasp? Is it even possible to convey perspective? The feedback from the participants after the tours helped us to implement future offers.

Guided tour and artistic workshops for visitors with and without hearing disabilities - part 2

Winter semester 2018/19

After the launch of the eponymous project in the previous semester, the Kunsthalle continued on its chosen path to becoming an inclusive museum. In order to be able to improve the process of guided tours and workshops, we learned together with the participants* about further characteristics of communication with deaf people.

Summer Semester 2018

The Kunsthalle is working to invite as many people as possible to participate with low barriers. In two exhibition tours and an art workshop, we therefore invited people with and without hearing impairments on site to explore the question of what communication barriers stand in the way of hearing impaired people. In addition to the dialogue on art, the focus was also on thoughts and ideas for the implementation of inclusive services.
