Collect, Arrange, Stack - Mary Bauermeister's Artistic Principle

Mary Bauermeister's multi-layered handling of (natural) materials, some of which are far removed from art, and the close connection between her artistic work and her own world of life result in a body of work that fascinates, surprises and in which one wants to immerse oneself.

Central to the artist's working process is the principle of collecting, ordering and arranging material, which the pupils follow and put into practice. During a joint exploration of the exhibition, the pupils collect impressions, notes and ideas in practical exercises that allow access to the works as well as to their own lives. (approx. 80 min) They then organize what they have noted and create their own worlds of thoughts and images in material collages. (approx. 60 min)
