Core objectives and measures of the redevelopment

  • Energy-efficient refurbishment, climate stability and daylight regulation
  • Security for the art
  • Attractiveness with café and refurbishment, new furnishings
  • Space optimisation and functional improvement
  • Accessibility, occupational health and safety, fire protection
  • Façade refurbishment and preservation of substance

Foyer with reception area

Daylight planning

Variants were analysed and the optimal one selected in terms of lighting, costs and maintenance.

Skylight rooms: system with specially folded light deflection louvres with a reflective surface above the dust ceiling, maximising homogeneous illumination of the exhibition rooms while filtering out solar radiation and allowing a high level of daylight in

Depot and exhibition climate

Creation of a stable indoor climate and climate corridors to reduce energy consumption in line with the new practice in the museum world.

Analysis in the flow model results: Depot with sluggish indoor climate, exhibition/skylight rooms with mixed concept of building component activation (underfloor heating and cooling) and air cooling

Sustainability goals

Reduction of energy consumption and CO² emissions through photovoltaics with complete self-utilisation of PV electricity and LED lighting.
